Following an impressive week both at the plate and on the mound for the Warriors, senior captain Haley Currie (Burlington, Mass.) of the Merrimack College softball team has been named the Fuddruckers Female Athlete of the Week.
Currie shined for the Warriors during a loaded week of eight games across seven days, seeing the Warriors go 5-3 in that span including 5-1 in NE10 divisional games. In five appearances on the mound for Merrimack in the week, Currie went 3-0, including a complete game victory in a 6-1 win over Bentley. She posted a 2.73 ERA across 23.1 innings on the week.
The senior captain also excelled at the plate for the Warriors, going 8-for-22 to post a .364 batting average. Currie racked up nine RBI on the week, including three while picking up the complete-game win over Bentley. She also displayed some impressive power with three home runs in three games, beginning with the first two-homer game of her career in Merrimack's 8-4 win over Saint Anselm. She then hit a walk-off solo home run with two outs in extra innings to lift the Warriors to a 3-2 win in the final game of the season with Saint Anselm.
