NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Northeast-10 Conference announced its Fall 2015 Commissioner’s Honor Roll (CHR) selections this morning, and nearly 280 Merrimack College student-athletes were among the conference’s list of top academic performers who posted 3.0 or better grade-point averages (GPA) last semester.
In total, 278 Warriors – or more than 45 percent of the department’s 612 student-athletes who participate in sports that are sponsored by the NE-10 (excludes men’s and women’s ice hockey and women’s rowing) – were among the 3,663 student-athletes conference-wide who earned this distinction.
The Northeast-10 CHR program recognizes the conference’s student-athletes for their achievements within the classroom. In order to be eligible for selection, a student-athlete must have met or exceeded a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale during the fall semester.
For the second straight semester, Merrimack led the conference with 4.0 student-athletes, tying Southern New Hampshire with 22 apiece. Merrimack’s 278 total selections were the second-highest total by an individual institution in the conference. Additionally, Merrimack had 125 of its student-athletes post GPAs in the 3.50-3.99 range.
Bentley had the most student-athletes earn CHR honors among the 15 NE-10 schools with 376 in total. Meanwhile, Adelphi University had the highest percentage of student-athletes earning a 3.0 GPA or higher at 78 percent.
Assumption College boasted the fourth-highest total (276) followed by Stonehill College (271) and Adelphi (266).
The most student-athletes came from the sport of football with a total of 352. Women’s soccer was next with 300 honorees followed by baseball (293), women’s track & field (269) and men’s lacrosse (263).
Of the 3,663 recognized, 185 student-athletes posted a perfect 4.0 GPA. As previously mentioned, Southern New Hampshire and Merrimack had the most 4.0 student-athletes with 22 apiece.
