Five Fall Student-Athletes Earn NE10 Academic All-Conference Honors
SOUTH EASTON, Mass.- Five fall student-athletes represented Merrimack on the Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference squads. To be eligible for selection, a student-athlete must have met or exceeded the minimum requirements of participation in at least half of the team's competitions and be either a starter or significant contributor; a 3.30 cumulative grade point average and complete at least one academic year at his/her current institution.
Women's soccer led the way with a pair of honorees as seniors Lindsey deMont (Littleton, Mass.) and Kerri Domohowski (Saugus, Mass.) were named to the team. Domohowski served as a co-captain this fall and scored two goals. She was an NSCAA Scholar All-Region selection this fall and is a two-time Northeast-10 All-Academic recipient.
deMont ranked second on the team with four assists on the year while playing a key role in the Warriors' defense. deMont was selected to the NSCAA All-Region third team and picked up NSCAA Scholar All-Region accolades this year. She was a Northeast-10 All-Conference second team and NEWISA All-New England first team honoree. She was on e of three seniors on the squad to play in the NEWISA Senior Bowl.
Ashley Nadeau (Canton, Mass.) represented the Merrimack field hockey team. Nadeau was one of three captains on the team in the fall. She played in all 19 contests and anchored the Warriors' backline. In 2010, Nadeau tied the program record for defensive saves in a season with seven while breaking the all-time record with 14 in her career.
Robbie Sabadoz (Ottawa, Ontario) claimed a spot on the men's soccer all-academic team for the second time in his career. Sabadoz was a Northeast-10 All-Conference first team selection after leading the Warriors and ranking second in the league with 23 points on the year. The junior striker tallied nine goals and five assists during the 2010 campaign. A tri-captain, Sabadoz was also named to the Daktronics and NSCAA All-Region first teams as well as earning NSCAA Scholar All-Region honors.
Heidi Wroblicky (Irvine, Calif.) of the Merrimack volleyball team was one of just nine volleyball players from around the Northeast-10 to earn the distinction. Wroblicky appeared in all 26 matches for the Warriors and played in all 94 sets. She registered 11 kills and 18 service aces on the season. The history major ranked third on the team with 267 digs and dished out 21 assists.
