Bigos, Todd Take Part in Edmontons Development Camp
EDMONTON, ALBERTA – Merrimack hockey players Jesse
Todd (Camrose, Alberta) and Kyle Bigos (Upland,
CA) were among 23 players who took part in the annual
Edmonton Oilers Development Camp from July 6-10 at Rexall Place and
Millennium Place in Sherwood Park.
Todd, one of six Alberta natives to participate in camp, was one
of five undrafted players invited to the Oilers camp. In his
freshman season at Merrimack, Todd tied for the team lead with 23
points (seven goals, 16 assists), while finishing second among
freshmen forwards in Hockey East with 21 points in conference
games. Much will be expected from Todd in his sophomore season as
the forward posted 15 points in his final 14 games of the
season.
Bigos, who will enroll at Merrimack in the fall, was selected by
the Edmonton Oilers in the fourth round (99th overall). The
six-foot, five-inch defenseman led the Vernon Vipers (BCHL) to the
Royal Bank Cup National Junior A Hockey Championship, earning
tournament MVP and Top Defenseman honors, while tallying nine
points in six playoff games. In 80 regular season games, Bigos, who
was the first Merrimack player to be drafted in seven years, posted
43 points (10 goals, 33 assists) to go with 173 penalty minutes. An
Upland, California native, Bigos was the only west coast native in
Oilers camp.
Five of the 23 participants played college hockey in 2008-09, with
Todd being the lone player from Hockey East.
