Merrimack opened up the scoring less than two minutes in as Jordan Tiger (Ridgefield, CT) found the back of the net after a pretty pass from fellow senior Greg Manning (Hingham, Mass.). The Warriors extended their lead to four as Guilbert found the back of the net twice and Barclay connected on a goal of his own.

American International made the score 4-1 with 5:58 remaining in the opening period as Bryce Serriello found the back of the net. Manning responded for the Warriors with a goal of his own, firing a shot from the left of the goalie to make the score 5-1 after a nice feed from Matt Marini (Trumbull, CT).

Two more goals by Guilbert and a goal by Lunney extended the Warriors lead to 8-1 early on in the second period before Serriello found the back of the net for his second of the day for the yellow Jackets. DJ Brown (Huntington, NY) scored to make the score 9-2 with 7:28 remaining in the opening half.

Two man-up goals by Lunney and a goal by Guilbert gave the Warriors the 12-3 advantage at halftime. Both of Lunney's goals were assisted by Gallagher and Guilbert's tally was assisted by junior Brad Duhaime (Salem, Mass.).

Merrimack dominated the first half statistically as they outshot the Yellow Jackets 28-10 and they won 13-16 faceoff attempts. The Warriors were almost perfect on clearing attempts in the opening half going 7-8 overall.

Barclay and Carlton Allen (Portland, ME) would score the final two goals of the game to preserve the Warriors 18-8 victory. The Allen tally was his first collegiate goal.

Senior faceoff specialist Nick Maggio (Winchester, Mass.) continued to dominate the faceoff circle as he went 12-16 and scooped up a team-high eight groundballs for the Warriors. Maggio is the active career leader over all three collegiate divisions in faceoff attempts and wins and is ranked second in groundballs.

All-American Peter Schielke (Ridgefield, CT) continued his steady play defensively for the Warriors causing two turnovers and scooping up one groundball on his senior day. Steven Frey (Madison, CT) played well in his first start of the season scooping up three groundballs for Merrimack. Patrick Coskren (Norwood, Mass.) and Sullivan both did a good job in the faceoff circle for the Warriors going a combined 9-11 on the afternoon and grabbing nine total groundballs.
