NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Sophomore Tyler Packett (Eastham, Mass.) earned his first career Northeast-10 Conference Goalkeeper of the Week honor on Monday afternoon, following his 2-0 week that featured six saves and the seventh clean sheet of the season for the Warriors.
Packett played in all by 2:51 of last week's action, which included at 2-1 victory at Saint Anselm and a 2-0 win at home against Saint Michael's on Senior Night. The second-year keeper made a point-blank stop against the Hawks with Merrimack ahead by one to preserve the win, and followed that up with a four-save effort against the Purple Knights.
On the season, the first-year starter boasts a 0.64 goals-against-average and a .825 save percentage over 16 appearances and 14 starts. Both totals rank second in the NE-10, trailing only Adelphi's Spenser Powell. Packett has 47 total saves this season after making only one save in 6:30 of action last year as a rookie.
Packett and the rest of the Warriors begin postseason play tomorrow night, when second-seeded Merrimack hosts seventh-seeded American International in the NE-10 Quarterfinals.
