NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – After a breakout sophomore season that featured 18 points on five goals and eight assists, midfielder Lars Sund (Stavanger, Norway) was named to the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-East Region Second Team, as announced by the organization on Thursday afternoon.
Sund marked Merrimack's lone representative on the D2CAA All-East Region squads. The units featured representatives across the Northeast-10 Conference, the East Coast Conference and the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.
Following a NE-10 All-Rookie campaign as a freshman that included six points over 18 appearances and 15 starts, the second-year midfielder emerged to lead Merrimack in scoring during his second season while finishing second on the team goals and first in assists.
During the season, Sund earned NE-10 Player of the Week honors following his five-point effort against Southern Connecticut that included his first-ever multi-goal game. He was named to the NE-10 All-Conference First Team as a midfielder, one of six Warriors to earn all-league distinction. Sund also was one of three Warriors to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection, boasting a grade-point-average of 3.49 as a business administration major.
Sund contributed to a Merrimack program that finished the season with 15 wins for the third consecutive year and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in program history.
