Devereaux’s 1K Crown Leads Women’s Track & Field at Tufts Invitational

MEDFORD, MA- The Merrimack women's indoor track and field team turned in five top-five finishes at the Tufts Invitational Saturday afternoon.

Briana Devereaux (Londonderry, NH) paced the Warriors with a first-place finish in the 1,000 meter run while Anne Bajor (Methuen, MA) claimed second in the event.

Desiree DeLeon (Salem, MA) logged a second-place finish in the 400 meter dash and Christine Manfra (Stoneham, MA) took fourth.

In the 3,000 meter run, Rebecca Ainscow (Derry, NH) clocked in with a time of 11:15.83 to earn sixth.

Ashley Wright (Somersworth, NH) cleared a height of 1.42 meters to take sixth place in the high jump. Janelle Clark (Springfield, MA) captured second in the triple jump with a mark of 10.15 meters.

 "I was very pleased with our performances today.    As the athletes continue to progress with seasonal and personal bests, we have high hopes for the conference meet and the outdoor season," said head coach Matt Pimentel.

Up next, Merrimack will compete at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship meet February 18 at the Reggie Lewis Center.
