BRYANT, Mass. – The Merrimack College women's track & field team saw nearly 20 Warriors post a finish in the top-10 in their respective events as the Navy and Gold displayed some impressive depth in a quality outing at the Black and Gold Invitational and Bryant on Sunday.

Head coach Jacky Mendes, "Another strong performance by the Warriors. We took advantage of some great weather and earned some strong performances, particularly by freshmen such as Russo, Fogarty and Reid and the veterans Skotnicki, Barnett, Steinbrecher and Ciempa. The Warriors are working harder than ever and are making huge improvements at such an early point in the season."
How It Happened
- Of the Warriors' numerous top-10 finishes on Sunday, the top finish belonged to sophomore Margaret Byrne (West Hartford, Conn.), posting a fourth-place marker in the 800m with a time of 2:26.36, qualifying for the Northeast-10 Conference Championships. Junior Kylie Chartier (Phillipston, Mass.) finished right behind in fifth at 2:27.40.
- Merrimack saw another quartet of fifth-place finishes in jumping events on Sunday, with seniors Kathryn Skotnicki (Haddon Heights, N.J.) and captain Sarah Barnett (Bridgewater, Mass.) tying for fifth in the high jump with 1.50m jumps. Sophomore Tori Daigle (Dayton, Mass.) also finished fifth in the long jump at 5.12m, while classmate Elizabeth Reid (Mount Laurel, N.J.) added the final fifth-place finish in the triple jump (10.14m)
- Barnett would also add a ninth-place finish in the 200m dash, posting a time of 26.98 to qualify for NE10's. Junior Leniesha Williams (Bennington, Vt.) would also contribute on the track, posting a seventh-place finish in the 100m dash with an NE10 qualifying time of 12.99.
- Daigle would also be joined by classmate Amanda Murolo (Montville, N.J.) and juniors Abby Adams (Mattapoisett, Mass.) and Lauren MacGregor (Salem, N.H.) to finish fifth in the 4x100m relay, registering a time of 53.33
The Warriors will compete at American International on Saturday in the Yellow Jacket Invitational.
