DURHAM, N.H. – The Merrimack College women's track & field team competed against Division I competition at the Wildcat Invitational at the University of New Hampshire Saturday, with top finishes from a pair of underclassmen highlighting the day for the Warriors.

How It Happened
- Sophomore Sophie Gorton (Plymouth, Mass.) and freshman Gabrielle Eldridge (Easton, Mass.) would each register the top finishes for Merrimack with runner-up performances. Gorton would finish second in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 12:34.16. Eldridge would post her runner-up finish in the javelin with a 34.63m throw.
- Eldridge would also add a third-place finish at UNH in a quality outing, as she did so in the shot put with the second-best throw in program history at 11.39m. Sophomore Tori Daigle (Dayton, Maine) also posted a third-place finish for the Warriors in the triple jump, registering a 10.84m jump.
- Daigle would also perform well across multiple events, adding a fourth-place finish in the 100m hurdles at a time of 16.55. Junior Lauren MacGregor (Salem, N.H.) finished a spot behind Daigle in the triple jump, also finish fourth with a 10.82m jump. Senior captain Sarah Barnett (Bridgewater, Mass.) would also contribute to a solid day in field events for Merrimack, finishing fifth in the shot put with a 11.14m throw.
- Barnett's fellow senior captain Olivia Downey (Melrose, Mass.) would record a strong day on the track on Saturday, highlighted by a sixth-place finish in the 100m with a time of 12.89, ranking second on the school record board. She would also add a ninth-place finish in the 200m with a time of 27.14.
The Warriors will see athletes competing in Princeton, New Jersey at the Larry Ellis Invitational and the Sean Collier Invitational at MIT.
