What They Said
Head coach Chris Cameron, "Overall we had a good a day, we have a big race in two weeks with the NCAA Regionals, so that's what we're really starting to gear up and get ready for. We saw some impressive runs out of some athletes so that too was a good sign."
How It Happened
- For the fourth time in four races she has ran in this season, junior Maddie Mercado (Palenville, N.Y.) would post the top finish for Merrimack, finishing 29th in the 149-runner field with a time of 23:53. Freshman Katherine Ferrara (Norfolk, Mass.) would finish right alongside Mercado, placing 30th with an identical time to the junior.
- The future of the program continues to look promising as four of Merrimack's top-five finishers were underclassmen. Freshman Areil Vaillancourt (Auburn, N.H.) would post the third best time for Merrimack at 24:12, good enough for 36th at the meet. Sophomores Tia Foglietta (Lynn, Mass.) and Sophie Gorton (Plymouth, Mass.) would join Vaillancourt in the top-40, finishing 38th and 40th with times of 24:17 and 24:20, respectively.
- Senior captain Claire Aalerud (Winchester, Mass.) recorded the sixth-best finish for the Warriors at the conference championship Saturday, finishing 43rd at a time of 24:24 as one of eight Warriors to place in the top-50 on their way to a fourth-place finish.
- Fellow senior Colleen Englert (Fayetteville, N.Y.) would join Aalerud in the top-50 finishers in the conference, as she finished six seconds behind her classmate at a time of 24:30 to record a 48th-place finish to help Merrimack's cause on its way to a fourth-place finish.
