After scoring in double figures in both games last week while adding a double-double at Saint Rose, junior forward Denia Davis-Stewart of the women's basketball program was named this week's Fuddruckers Female Athlete of the Week.Â
Davis-Stewart led the Warriors with 17.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game last week, guiding Mer- rimack to a pair of victories last week. Davis-Stewart scored in double figures of each contests, posting 18 points against AIC and 17 more against Saint Rose. The center shot 14-of-24 (.583) overall and 7-of-8 (.875) at the free throw line. Davis-Stewart posted 18 rebounds against the Golden Knights, her fourth game this year with at least 15 boards. The junior posted her team-leading ninth double-double of the year.
The junior has scored in double figures in six of her last seven games and 10 of her last 12, overall. The Dorchester, Mass. native has recorded at least 10 rebounds in eight of those occasions including a pair of 20-rebound efforts. Davis-Stewart ranks fourth in the conference in rebounds per game, averaging a career-best 10.7 per contest.
Davis-Stewart and the Warriors return to action on Wednesday night, facing Assumption College on the road at 5:30 p.m. at Laska Gym.Â
