After scoring a season high in points and leading the team to a win over the sixth-ranked team in the region, senior Lindsay Werner of the women's basketball team has been named this week's Fuddrucker's Female Athlete of the Week.
Werner posted a 29-point effort on Wednesday against Stonehill, shooting 11-of-19 from the field and 3-of-7 from three-point range in Merrimack's playoff-clinching victory over the Skyhawks. She added three steals in a team-best 39 minutes of action, scoring at least 20 points for a team-leading eighth time.
Werner currently sits 16th in school history in scoring (1.087 points), and needs 49 points over the final few games of the season to finish her career inside the top 15 all-time. She also sits on 184 career 3-pointers, needing six more to set the school record.
Merrimack wraps up the regular season on Tuesday night, traveling to Saint Michael's for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off in Colchester, Vt. The Warriors will play in the opening round of the NE10 Championship on Friday, either hosting the fifth seed from the Southwest Division at Hammel Court or traveling to the Southwest's fourth seed.Â
