For the third time this season, junior Juvaris Hayes of the Merrimack College men's basketball program has been named Fuddruckers Male Athlete of the Week after he led the Warriors to a pair of wins including scoring the most points by a men's basketball player in 22 years on Sunday in the NE10 Quarterfinals. 

Juvaris Hayes led Merrimack to a 2-0 record last week, averaging 30.0 points, 8.5 assists, 7.5 rebounds and 5.0 steals per game. Hayes registered a herculean effort against Adelphi on Sunday in the NE10 Quarterfinals, setting a career-high with 46 points, the most by a Warriors since 1997 (over 20 years). The point guard hit 19 field goals - the fourth most of any player in Division II this season - while his 46 points were tied for the 15th most nationwide in 2018-19. He pulled down a team-high nine rebounds while adding a game-high five steals. Hayes other effort last week featured a double-double of 17 points and 13 assists, guiding the Warriors' offense to a season-high 104 points at Saint Michael's. 

Hayes is the national leader in steals (119) and steals per game, and ranks among the top 10 in the NE10 in total points, points per game, field goals made (a league-leading 220), total assists and assists per game. He boastst 12 game of at least 20 points this year, scoring in double figures in all but one game in 2018-19. He has scored at least 30 twice, including Sunday's 46-point performance.

Merrimack's point guard leads the Warriors into the NE10 Semifinals on Wednesday when the Warriors face top-seeded Le Moyne at 7 p.m. The rematch of last year's conference semifinal will take place at Ted Grant Court in Syracuse, N.Y.
