After a rocky start to the 2019 campaign, senior Caitlin McBride went off at the plate over the last seven days, helping softball pull within a game of .500. Her recent offensive explosion helped her earn Fuddrucker's Athlete of the Week.Â
McBride started the week hitting 1.000 against Charleston, batting in four runs on four hits to give the Warriors its first win in The Spring Games tournament. With nine RBI in the last seven games, her biggest hit came in Sunday's home opening win against Molloy, where her single to left field scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth. From behind the plate, she's picked off eleven baserunners, and has contributed to three outs at the plate. The senior currently leads the program with 10 RBI, and is batting .233 on the season.
The Warriors will head to Long Island Friday, taking part in a six-game road trip that begins at LIU Post.Â
