For the first time this spring, senior golfer Krystal Knight has earned Fuddruckers Female Athlete of the Week honors after being recognized by the Northeast-10 Conference last week for her phenomenal efforts over the last month.
Knight earned her league-high fifth NE10 Golfer of the WEek award this season (fall and spring combined) last week; no other golfer in the league has more than one. She has had a strong start to her spring season, to say the least. Through two events and five rounds, she is 12-over-par for the spring at 372 (+12). Of those five rounds, her highest has been a six-over (78), while three have been 74 or lower, including back-to-back par-or-under rounds to start last week's Sunoco Campbell Classic. She was the runner-up there against a loaded field and 14th at the Battle at Hilton Head in February, helping Merrimack place in the top-10 in the former tournament.
The Groveland, Massachusetts, native continues to lead a Warrior squad that claimed the conference crown for a fourth time in five years back in October and already has clinched a spot in next month's NCAA Super Regional tournament. Knight ranks third in the country in scoring average (76.92) and boasts five event victories and seven top-10 finishes.
Merrimack returns to action at the Lady Penmen Spring Invitational at Beaver Meadow Golf Club on April 15.
