The Merrimack College softball program finished the regular season red-hot, downing #17 Southern New Hampshire twice on senior day to lock in a home playoff game. In game two of Saturday's doubleheader, it was senior Melanie DeAlmeida who helped close out the regular season in picturesque fashion. Her performance inside the circle helps her earn Fuddruckers Athlete of the Week.
After a 10-inning game one victory, the senior pitcher was lights-out in game two, going the distance against Southern New Hampshire and earning her second-ever complete-game shutout. Giving up just four hits and one walk while fanning two, DeAlmeida shut out the Penmen for the first time this season.
The Warriors begin its final run at a Northeast-10 Conference Championship Tuesday afternoon, as the team is set to take on Assumption. Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
