After his dominance on the faceoff X helped the Merrimack College men's lacrosse team win its second straight national title on Sunday, sophomore Davis Cronin has been named Fuddruckers Male Co-Athlete of the Week.
Cronin was spectacular on the X on the biggest stage, winning 18-of-27 faceoffs to help the Warriors double up Limestone, 16-8, in the 2019 NCAA Division II Men's Lacrosse Championship. That performance was imperative against the nation's top-ranked scoring offense, as Cronin's stellar display allowed Merrimack to dominate the possessions battle and keep the ball in the hands of the Warrior offense, which did not disappoint.
The performance on Sunday wraps up an incredibly impressive season for Cronin, who was the starting faceoff specialist for the first time in his career. His final ledger for the national championship campaign ended with a stat line of 252 wins on 399 attempts (63.2%), with a team-leading 125 ground balls and a caused turnover. He also added one goal over the course of the year, as well.
