Redshirt-senior Marquis Spence of the Merrimack College football program enjoyed an eight-catch performance over the weekend at Central Connecticut State, finishing with a team-best 83 yards and a career-high three touchdowns, earning the first Fuddruckers Male Athlete of the Week award of 2019-20 for his efforts.Â
Spence's performance came on the national spotlight as the Warriors played the Blue Devils in their first-ever apperance on the ESPN family of networks. Spence was pivotal in Merrimack's 23-point comeback that saw the Warriors erase a 37-14 deficit that included 16 points scored in the final two minutes of the fourth quarter. Spence caught the touchdown that led to the game-tying two-point conversation, posting an acrobatic, juggling play to complete his eight-reception evening. He posted the second most catches of his career, and registered his first-ever three-touchdown game.Â
Spence and the Warriors return to the gridiron this weekend when Merrimack vists Saint Francis University for the first time in school history. Kickoff in Loretto, Pa. is set for 12 p.m. on the campus of the Red Flash
