Posting a career-best performance in Merrimack's near-victory at Lehigh on Saturday, reshirt-senior wide receiver Marquis Spence has been named this week's Fuddruckers Male Athlete of the Week

Spence was named NEC Offensive Co-Player of the Week for his efforts. Spence had a career-high 175 yards on 16 receptions in a 10-3 loss at Lehigh on Saturday.  His 175 receiving yards were the most by an NEC athlete through the first five weeks of the season.  Spence gained first-down yardage on nine of the 16 catches.

In program annals, the 16-catch performance were the fourth most catches in a single game in school history. Across NCAA FCS, Spence matched the nation's single-game high in receptions, as well. The fifth-year receiver and team captain is already knocking on the door of new career highs in receptions and touchdowns. He needs eight more catches and two more touchdowns to establish new personal bests going into week six.
