After having the best week of his career to lead the men's basketball team to three NEC wins and vaulting the program in first place in the conference, senior Idris Joyner has been named Fuddruckers Athlete of the Week!
Idris Joyner led Merrimack to a 3-0 week and into first place in the NEC by averaging 17.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.7 steals per game. Joyner posting shooting splits of .667/.375/.714 over the three games, shooting 20-30 from the field, 3-8 from beyond the arc and 10-14 at the foul line. He led the team in scoring, field goals made, shot attempts, field-goal percentage and total rebounds (16) while ranking second in steals. Joyner started the week with a career-high tying effort against Bryant, scoring 16 points in the Warriors' comeback in. He followed with a nine-point, seven-rebound effort at Robert Morris before his best career performance against Saint Francis. He scored a career-high 28 points  - the most for a Merrimack player this season - and shot 11-of-12 from the field to set another career high in shots made (11). He increased his team-leading scoring average to 14.1 points per game in conference play.Â
Joyner and the Warriors take their 6-1 league record into a three-game homestand on Thursday night when Merrimack welcomes Fairleigh Dickinson to campus for a 7 p.m. tip-off at Hammel Court.Â
