Senior Niall Coughlin (Castleton, N.Y.) helped lead the Merrimack College men's cross country team to a sixth-place finish at Sunday's NE10 Championship, and for that he has been named this week's Fuddruckers Male Athlete of the Week.

Coughlin earned all-conference third team honors by virtue of his 16^th-place finish in the individual leaderboard, while the rest of the Merrimack College men's cross country team placed sixth overall at the 2017 Northeast-10 Conference Championship hosted by AIC at Stanley Park in Westfield, Massachusetts.

Coughlin ran his fastest time of the season at 25:49.81 -- a personal record -- and averaged an average 1K time of 3:13.8. He earned all-conference recognition for the first time in his career. Merrimack totaled 161 points to place sixth in the 14-team for the fifth year in a row.

For Coughlin, Sunday marked his fourth top-20 finish of the season, and also was his best-ever showing at a conference championship race in his four years with the program.

Merrimack will rest for a week before gearing up for the NCAA East Regional Championship, which will be held on Saturday, Nov. 4, in Buffalo, New York at Deamen College.
