Men's ice hockey freshman defenseman
Evan Bell (Livonia, Mich.) has been named Fuddruckers Male Athlete of the Week after a career outing on Sunday afternoon in a victory at nationally ranked New Hampshire.
Bell, who also was named the Hockey East Rookie of the Week for the first time in his career, had the most productive game of his young career after finishing with a team-high two points – both assists – in a huge 4-3 road win against the 13
th-ranked Wildcats on Sunday afternoon.
More importantly, Bell helped set up Merrimack's second and fourth goals on Sunday, with the latter tally eventually standing as the game-winner. He nearly scored his first career goal in the process, but regardless, his efforts helped net the team a valuable two points in the standings while also securing the Warriors' first win at the Whittemore Center since 2013.
In four games this season, Bell has totaled three shots in addition to the two helpers he recorded on Sunday. He also has two blocked shots from earlier in the season, as well.
Bell and the rest of the Warriors round out the first half against Northeastern this coming Saturday at Lawler Rink. Puck drop is set for 4 p.m.
