Senior outfielder Matt Nicholson of the Merrimack College baseball program has been named Fuddrucker's Male Athlete of the Week after leading Merrimack offensively in its season opening weekend at Limestone. 

Nicholson was Merrimack's offensive leaders in the Warriors' two games over the weekend at Limestone to begin the 2018 season. The Navy and Gold's rightfielder hit two home runs – one in each game – and drove in four runs. Nicholson slashed .333/.333/1.000, totaling a team-best 1.333 OPS.

The three-year starter now has 15 career long balls, the sixth-most in program history. His four RBI were part of 14 runs scored for the Warriors for a weekend, which Nicholson was directly part of half of after crossing the plate an additional three times. 

Nicholson and the Warriors will enjoy a week off before heading to Myrtle Beach, S.C. next week to play five games at the Northeast Challenge beginning on Thursday at 6 p.m. vs. LIU Post.
