After he scored the game-winning goal in a huge rivalry matchup against Adelphi and led the team in overall scoring as part of another two-win week, freshman Sean Black of the men's lacrosse team has been named Fuddruckers Male Athlete of the Week.
It was another banner week for Black, who was the NE10 Player and Rookie of the Week for the second time this season. He started it off with a five-point performance on the road against a pesky Assumption team in an eventual 10-5 victory. He was then kept in check through parts of Merrimack's rivalry matchup with No. 6 Adelphi on Saturday, but the Panthers weren't able to keep him at bay when it mattered most, as Black scored the game-winning goal with less than two minutes to play and added another assist to round out his week with seven points (3g, 4a).
For the season, Black is up to a team- and league-leading 64 points, featuring a scoring line of 26 goals and a league-high 38 assists. He ranks third in the country averaging 2.92 assists per game and seventh overall scoring average (4.92). He has been held under four points in a game only three times this season.
Black and the rest of the Warriors close the regular season on Senior Day this Saturday (April 28) against Saint Michael's beginning at 3:30 p.m.
