After playing a key role in the men's ice hockey team's 4-0 blanking of No. 13/15 Boston University on Saturday night, senior goaltender Craig Pantano has earned Fuddruckers Male Athlete of the Week accolades.
Pantano posted his second shutout in a three-game span, denying the Terriers on Saturday night with a 34-save performance. It was the third career shutout for Pantano, who backboned the Warriors to a win in their first league game of the season, which also happened to be program's first-ever clean sheet against Boston University in school history. He earned Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week honors, as well.
On the season, the Bridgewater, Massachusetts, native has logged nearly 200 minutes in net and sports a sparking .958 save percentage with 91 saves on 95 shots while also owning a 1.21 goals against average. He ranks second in the league in both categories, as well as in the top-10 nationally.
Pantano and the rest of the Warriors continue league play with a home-and-home series against No. 16 Massachusetts this weekend. The series starts Friday at the Mullins Center and then concludes at Lawler Rink to round out Homecoming Weekend on Saturday, with puck drop each night set for 7 p.m.
