Pacis Nets 100th Win, Pickert Sets School Record for Digs as Volleyball Splits
RINDGE, NH – Head Coach Joey Pacis became the all-time
program leader in wins with 100 as the Merrimack volleyball team
defeated Franklin Pierce 3-1 in a conference match before falling
to C.W. Post 3-1 in a non-conference battle Saturday.
And with her fourth dig of the night, junior Alyssa
Pickert (Tinley Park, IL) became the program's
all-time leader in digs, passing Courtney Desrosiers who had 1,530
career digs.
After 41 digs Saturday, Pickert, the Northeast-10 Libero of the
Week for the last three weeks, sits at 1,568 career.
“It's an honor to reach the 100-win plateau,”
said Pacis. “My tenure at Merrimack has been a great
experience, and I owe it all to the volleyball student-athletes and
to Merrimack for making this an enjoyable work
atmosphere.”
Game scores against Franklin Pierce were 25-21, 25-21, 22-25,
25-8.
“We played pretty well against Franklin Pierce. It's
tough to beat a team three times especially when the third time is
the one that counts for the conference match. Our serve and receive
play gave us a lot of options on offense.”
Molly Cindric (Westlake Village, CA) posted her
eighth double-double of the season, tallying 13 digs and 11 kills,
while Megan Murray (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA)
had a match-high 15 kills and five blocks. Elyse Lorenz
(Frankfurt, IL) also had a double-double on 39 assists and
11 digs. Jenna Reilly (Northport, NY) recorded a
career-high 10 kills and added four blocks.
Game scores against C.W. Post were 25-19, 17-25, 25-23, 25-16.
“Our serve and receive wasn't as good in the second
match, and it limited our options offensively,” said Pacis.
“They were very athletic and ran a lot of fast-tempo sets
which caught us off guard. Hopefully, we will get a chance to play
them again later on this year.”
Cindric was one kill shy of a double-double, picking up nine kills
and 12 digs, while Lorenz was one dig shy, with 31 assists and nine
digs. Shaunda Forcier (Gonic, NH) had a team-high
10 kills. The Warriors hit just .156 as a team and just -.024 in
the first set.
The Warriors (16-5, 5-2 NE-10) continue conference action Tuesday
at Saint Anselm at 7 p.m.
