Lindhe Lifts Men's Soccer to Win Over Southern Connecticut
NORTH ANDOVER, MA – Scoring the game's lone goal,
Olof Lindhe (Stockholm, Sweden) led the Merrimack
men's soccer Warriors to a 1-0 win over Southern Connecticut
on Thursday night at Warrior Field.
Senior captain Greg Motta (Saunderstown, RI)
assisted Lindhe's third goal of the year off a corner in the
33rd minute to put the Warriors on the board.
With the win, Merrimack improves to 9-6-1 and 7-4 in the
Northeast-10 Conference. Currently in fifth place, the Warriors
will need to sweep Bentley and UMass-Lowell and have Southern
Connecticut lose to Southern New Hampshire to host a postseason
match as the No. 4 seed.
Head Coach Tony Martone was thrilled with the
team's play and commented on his team's effort.
“This was a great win for us tonight,” Martone said.
“Our guys played tough and did what we needed to do to win.
We had some great opportunities and might have had a few more
scores, but we'll take the win.”
The Warriors continue their three-game home stand at Warrior Field
against Bentley University at 1:00pm on Saturday. Merrimack will
finish the regular season at home on Wednesday, October 28 versus
UMass-Lowell.
