Sabadoz Sets Program Mark, Warriors Secure Five-Seed
NORTH ANDOVER, MA - With first and second half goals from
Robbie Sabadoz (Ottawa, ON), the Merrimack men's
soccer team won their fourth straight over UMass-Lowell, 2-0 and
secured the five-seed in the upcoming Northeast-10 Conference
quarterfinals
With the win, the Warriors will travel to New Haven, Connecticut
to take on the fourth-ranked Owls of Southern Connecticut State
University on Sunday at 1:00pm in the Northeast-10 Conference
quarterfinals.
With his second goal in the 88th minute, Sabadoz tied
the program record for single-season goals at 19. He was fed
by classmate Evan Burokas (Auburn, MA) on a
breakaway and maneuvered around the goalie for the record-setting
goal. He tied Rich Fleming's record which was set in the 1996
season.
Sabadoz was assisted in the first half by sophomore
Jimmy Goncalves (Marlborough, MA) who found his
classmate at the top of the box.
Senior Doug Carvalho (New Bedford, MA) tallied
his fifth shut-out on the season with three saves in net for the
Warriors.
