Sabadoz Lifts Merrimack Over Saint Anselm
NORTH ANDOVER, MA – For the second consecutive game,
sophomore Robbie Sabadoz (Ottawa, ON) led the
Merrimack men's soccer team (6-4-1, 4-2 NE-10) to victory
with a pair of goals; on Tuesday evening it was against Saint
Anselm in a 2-1 win.
“Robbie's really come into his own this year,”
said Head Coach Tony Martone of Sabadoz's
incredible run of 12 goals in nine games. “In the end though,
it comes down to whether or not we can win games and he's
helping us do just that. Part of what makes him such a great
goal-scorer is his nose for the ball and positioning on
offense.”
With his second straight win in net, junior Kevin Joyce
(Mansfield, MA) made six saves for the Warriors.
Giving up an early goal (16th minute), the Warriors battled back
in a game that became physical in nature (31 fouls) and warranted
four yellow cards.
Freshman Olof Lindhe (Stockholm, Sweden) provided
assistance on Sabadoz's second goal, while putting three of
Merrimack's 17 shots on net.
The Warriors begin a two game road trip on Friday, October 9 at
the University of New Haven with a 4:00 pm kick off against the
Chargers.
