Volleyball Blanks Saint Michael's 3-0 for Third Straight Win

NORTH ANDOVER, MA - Molly Cindric (Westlake Village, CA) matched her season-high with 18 kills as the Merrimack volleyball team won its third straight match and fifth straight at home, defeating Saint Michael's College 3-0 Wednesday night at the Volpe Gym.

The victory was the 99th in the coaching career of Joey Pacis, tying the all-time program record.

Game scores were 25-18, 25-15, 25-17.

The Warriors built an 18-14 lead in the first, but the Purple Knights fought back to tie it up, before the hosts scored the final seven points, capitalizing on five errors along with a kill and a block from Megan Murray (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA). Murray and Cindric had four first-set kills each, while Elyse Lorenz (Frankfurt, IL) tallied 13 assists.

They cruised to a 25-15 victory in the second set, building a 16-9 lead after four straight kills, two of them from Cindric. Cindric also closed the set, registering three straight kills at the end, putting her in double-digits for kills for the tenth straight match.

In the third, Merrimack hit .364 overall, committing just three attack errors, resulting in a 25-17 win.

Alyssa Pickert (Tinley Park, IL), the Northeast-10 Libero of the Week for three straight weeks, picked up 24 digs, while Lorenz finished with 46 assists, getting at least 40 for the fourth straight match. Cindric, who had three straight double-doubles entering Wednesday's match, was two digs shy of a double-double, but hit an impressive .457 for the match. Murray finished with 15 kills and four blocks, while Shaunda Forcier (Gonic, NH) added 10 kills, five digs and two blocks.

The Purple Knights were led by Lindsey Frazier, who had eight kills. The visitors had six team blocks, but committed 15 attack errors as they fell to 5-11 overall, 1-8 in the conference.

Merrimack (15-4, 4-2 NE-10) takes on Franklin Pierce at 1 p.m. and C.W. Post at 3 p.m. on Saturday in Rindge, NH. Eight of the Warriors' 11 final regular season matches are away from North Andover.
