LOUDONVILLE, NY - The Merrimack women's soccer Warriors had their 2009 season come to an end Sunday afternoon at Siena College when they were bested by the undefeated College of Saint Rose, 2-1.

The Merrimack loss marked the third this year to Saint Rose but their narrowest margin of the year after a 4-0 loss at home and 2-0 loss on the road in the Conference semifinals.

Senior Brittany Gustafson (East Hampton, CT) ended her season at 12-5-3, making five saves on the afternoon.

Junior Kerri Domohowski (Saugus, MA) scored her fourth goal of the season in the 78th minute to answer the Golden Knights second goal two minutes earlier, but the Warriors' best chances in the final 12 minutes was a pair of corner kicks for which Gustafson pushed up for.

Much like Saint Rose's first half goal in the Northeast-10 Conference semifinal, junior Amanda Deck fired a shot from just outside the top of the box to beat Gustafson who had previously gone over 140 minutes without allowing a goal.

In the 76th minute, Deck drove a free kick from 40 yards out that found Kimberly Morton's head before crossing the goal line to give the Golden Knights a two-goal advantage.

Advancing to the East Regional final for the third straight year, the Golden Knights put their unbeaten streak of 22 games to the test against Franklin Pierce University on Friday, November 20.

Head Coach Gabe Mejail said following the contest, "I'm really proud of how our team played today.  They never gave up and put up a good fight against an incredibly talented Saint Rose team."
