#15 Men's Basketball Takes Hit at Home Against #9 Bentley

NORTH ANDOVER, MA – In a re-match of last season's NCAA East Regional semifinal double-overtime game, the #15 Merrimack men's basketball team dropped a 72-58 decision to the #9 Bentley University Falcons on Wednesday night at Volpe Gym.

In the highly-anticipated match-up, the team's drew 1124 to the Volpe Athletic Center on the campus of Merrimack College.

Merrimack's leading scorer was senior Craig Woehnker (Colts Neck, NJ), who came off the bench for 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting, including 4-of-7 from beyond the arc.

The Warriors trailed by just two at the half after a Woehnker three-pointer and even tied the score at 41, but 4-for-20 shooting to start the second half put Merrimack in a hole they were unable to dig themselves out of.

Senior captain Darren Duncan (Briarwood, NY) posted ten points, eight boards, five assists and three steals, but was held to just 5-of-16 from the field while being blanked from long range.

Bentley capitalized off 11 Merrimack turnovers to score 14 points and connected on 54.5% of their threes (12-22) to win the Conference-opener between the top two projected teams in the Northeast-10 Conference.

The Warriors take to the road on Saturday and Sunday against #25 Philadelphia and Holy Family, respectively. The resume Conference play on Tuesday, November 24 against Stonehill in Easton, Massachusetts at 7:30pm.
