UMass-Lowell Upends Women's Basketball, 78-66
NORTH ANDOVER, MA - Dropping their third straight overall and
second in conference play, the Merrimack women's basketball team
fell to the University of Massachusetts-Lowell Sunday afternoon at
Volpe Gym, 78-66.
Senior Casey Miller (Fairbanks, AK) inched
closer to the 1,000-point mark with a game-high 21 points, giving
her 945 for her career.
At the 6:24 mark, Merrimack had their biggest lead of the game,
58-49, but a 29-6 River Hawks run to end the game gave UMass-Lowell
their second Northeast-10 Conference win of the year and improved
to 4-1 on the season.
UMass-Lowell used 50% shooting (15-of-30) in the second half and
11-of-12 from the free throw to go with a 49-33 advantage in the
rebounding department to run away in the second half.
Lowell also had four player in double figures (Jen Valente: 12,
Sha'Nay Bushner: 17, Krissy Little: 10 and Bianca Simmons: 17)
With the loss, Merrimack falls to 1-5 on the year and 0-3 in
Conference play.
The Warriors return to action at home against Franklin Pierce
University on Wednesday, December 2 for a 5:30pm tip with the
Ravens.
