NEW HAVEN, CT - Snapping a four-game win-streak in which they surrendered only one goal, the Merrimack women's soccer Warriors (4-1-1, 1-1 NE-10) dropped an overtime decision at Southern Connecticut.

Holding a 1-0 lead for over 60 minutes, the Warriors let up the Owls first goal in the 90th minute and later, three minutes into overtime play.

Junior Ashley Alnwick (Groton, MA) scored her second goal of the season on a corner kick from junior Lindsey deMont (Littleton, MA) in the 25th minute for the Warriors.

Having been out-shot 10-5, the Warriors' senior goalkeeper Brittany Gustafson (East Hampton, CT) tallied two saves in the first half before sophomore Kylie Horne (Scituate, MA) played 47 minutes of relief.

Head Coach Gabe Mejail said after the game, "We played a strong game and I'm proud of our team, but we simply ran out of gas in the end.  Southern Connecticut is a solid team and we can take a lot away from the game today."

Merrimack returns to action at Bentley for a Northeast-10 contest on Wednesday, September 16 at 3:30pm.
