Men's Soccer Falls In Double OT to Molloy
NORTH ANDOVER, MA – Coming off an unexpected 10-day layoff
due to rain postponement, the Merrimack men's soccer Warriors
(2-2-1, 0-0 NE-10) suffered their second straight non-conference
loss to Molloy College, 2-1, in double overtime on Tuesday evening.
Despite 12 second half shots, sophomore Robbie
Sabadoz's (Ottawa, ON) third goal
of the season in the 75th minute from classmate Evan
Burokas (Auburn, MA) [right] was the
lone score for the Warriors.
Senior goalkeeper Doug Carvalho (New
Bedford, MA) stopped 7 shots on the afternoon, but a
haphazard handle of a free kick gave Molloy a 1-0 lead in just the
5th minute.
Head Coach Tony Martone was understandably
discouraged with the result, but hopeful in looking forward to
Conference play.
“We were never really organized from the start and all of a
sudden we're down 1-0 in the first half,” Martone said.
“Molloy is a solid team, but we definitely need to possess
the ball better if we are to compete in our conference down the
line.”
Merrimack begins their Northeast-10 Conference schedule on
Saturday, September 19 at the College of Saint Rose with a 1:00pm
kick off.
