Men's Soccer Drops 3-1 Decision to Dominican
NORTH ANDOVER, MA – Three unanswered second half goals
from Dominican College led the Charges to victory over Merrimack,
3-1 on Sunday afternoon in the finale of the 2009 Merrimack
Invitational.
In his second appearance this season, sophomore Robbie
Sabadoz (Ottawa, ON) tallied his second goal in the 26th
minute from Evan Burokas (Auburn, MA) and
Olof Lindhe (Stockholm, Sweden).
Despite out-shooting the Chargers 15-10, the Warriors ended their
unbeaten streak at three this fall thanks to eight saves from
Charger goalkeeper Brandon Heembrock.
“They definitely stole one from us today, but we simply made
some stupid mistakes,” Warrior Head Coach Tony Martone said
following the match on Sunday. “Even though it's one we
should have had, it is good knowing that we can play at that level
with a top team like Dominican.”
In goal for the Warriors, senior captain Ben
Carvalho (New Bedford, MA) recorded his first loss on the
season with three saves for Merrimack.
Opening their Northeast-10 Conference schedule, Merrimack returns
to Warrior Field on Saturday, September 12 to face Southern
Connecticut at 7:00pm.
