Men's Soccer Blanked by Le Moyne, 4-0
SYRACUSE,
N.Y.- The Merrimack men's soccer team
dropped a 4-0 decision Saturday afternoon to Le Moyne. The Warriors
fell to 9-4 overall and 5-4 in the Northeast-10 Conference. The
Dolphins improved to 7-3-3 on the year and 6-2-2 in the conference
with the win.
Le Moyne opened the scoring after two and a half minutes of play
elapsed. Michael Spadine netted his sixth goal of the season from
15 yards away from goal. Vince Scaravillo and Angelo Reina tallied
goals just 20 seconds apart for the Dolphins to close out the
first-half scoring. Le Moyne headed into the break with a 3-0
lead.
Freshman goalkeeper Mattias Drummond
(Partille,
Sweden) came on in the second
half and made four saves and allowed just one goal in 45 minutes of
work.
The two teams combined for total of 35 shots in the contest with
Merrimack owning a slight 19-16 edge on the day. The Dolphins owned
a 10-6 advantage in shots on goal in the game. The Warriors earned
five corner kicks in the match while Le Moyne was awarded two.
Evan Burokas
(Auburn,
Mass.) paced the visitors with
seven shots in the match and four of the Warriors shots on
goal.
Merrimack will host St. Michael's in the Warriors'
final home match of the season, October 20 at Warrior Field.
