No. 21 Women's Soccer Topped by No. 1 Saint Rose, 2-0

ALBANY, N.Y., The No. 21 Merrimack women's soccer team fell to No. 1 Saint Rose 2-0 Saturday afternoon. The Warriors move to 9-4-2 overall and 9-3-1 in the Northeast-10. The Golden Knights remain undefeated this season at 15-0-0 on the year and 12-0-0 in the league.

Saint Rose took a 1-0 advantage 18 minutes into the match. Gianna D'Errico redirected a shot from Christina Cuffari into the net. Just two minutes later, Carmelina Puopolo finished a through ball from Cuffari to give the Golden Knights a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.

In the second half, neither team was able to tally a goal. Saint Rose held on for the 2-0 victory to remain undefeated on the year.

The home team owned an 18-8 edge in shots and an 8-2 margin in shots on goal. Jessica Peacock (Hopedale, Mass.) and Marissa DePaolo (Milford, Mass.) registered Merrimack's two shots on frame.

Kiley Horne (Scituate, Mass.) turned in a six-save performance for the Warriors against the top-ranked team in the nation. Deanna Esposito made a pair of saves for Saint Rose in the win.

Merrimack will play one more match in the Empire State before returning to North Andover. The Warriors will take on N.Y.I.T. Sunday October 17.
