No. 14 Men's Soccer Stung by American International, 1-0
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- The No. 14 Merrimack
men's soccer dropped a 1-0 decision to Northeast-10 foe
American International, Saturday afternoon. The Warriors fall to
7-2-0 on the year and 3-2 in the conference. The Yellow Jackets
improved to 5-4-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the Northeast-10 with the
win.
The two squads were deadlocked at 0-0 after 45 minutes of
action. Merrimack outshot American International, 5-3, in the first
half.
Emile Barnett provided all of the offense that the Yellow
Jackets would need. Barnett tallied a header with 28 minutes
remaining in the game. Miguel Rodriguez-Lapman earned an assist on
the game's lone goal.
Kevin Joyce (Mansfield, Mass.) turned in a
four-save performance in the contest for the Warriors. James Taber
made four saves for American International.
Each team fired nine shots in the match but American
International put one more on frame, 5-4.
