BRIARVILLE, N.Y.- The Merrimack women's soccer team picked up a 1-0 victory over Pace Friday afternoon. The Warriors improve to 8-1-1 in the Northeast-10 and 8-2-2 overall. The Setters fall to 3-9 on the year and 1-9 in the league.

After the first 45 minutes yielded no goals, Merrimack grabbed the 1-0 lead seven minutes into the second half. Freshman Danielle Dion (North Grosvenordale, Conn.) potted her team-leading sixth goal of the 2010 campaign. Dion finished a feed from Jessie DeGraan (Braintree, Mass.)

Dion's tally was all the offense needed in the match for the Warriors. The combination of the stingy Merrimack backline and junior goalkeeper Kiley Horne (Scituate, Mass.) preserved the shutout and the win. Horne recorded her fourth clean sheet of the season and picked up her eighth win in a three-save performance.

The Warriors outshot Pace 9-5 in the match and fired five shots on goal while the Setters managed three on frame. Merrimack held an overwhelming advantage in corner kicks awarded, 13-3.

Action resumes for the Warriors October 10 as they host Le Moyne in a Northeast-10 match at Warrior Field.
