McHugh Wins Two, Merrimack Falls to Martin Methodist, 6-3

AUBURNDALE, FL – In day three of play in Florida, junior Tim McHugh (Edgartown, MA) won at both singles and doubles, but the Merrimack College men's tennis team fell to Martin Methodist College 6-3 at Auburndale Park.

McHugh teamed with sophomore Max Eppley (Malaga, Spain) for an 8-3 No. 3 doubles win, while winning 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.

Freshman Petar Golijanin (Novi Sad, Serbia) picked up win number three for the Warriors in a tie-break, three-set win.

“Our guys showed toughness in every match today,” said head coach Chris Stevens.  “We played quality opponents, but the effort of our team is promising.”

Merrimack plays again on Thursday at 10:00am against Colby-Sawyer College to conclude their four-match tour of Florida during the College's spring recess.  The Warriors—2-0 in Northeast-10 Conference play (3-3 overall)—resumes Conference play at Saint Anselm on March 20 at 10:00am.
