NORTH ANDOVER, MA- Taking a no-hitter into the seventh inning and dealing a complete game two-hitter, senior Dylan Ellis (Gloucester, MA) pitched the Merrimack College baseball team (3-1, 2-0 NE-10) to a 8-0 win over Assumption College in game two of Saturday's doubleheader.

Lowering his ERA to 1.80 on the season, Ellis struck out four batters and walked just two on the afternoon.

Completing the weekend sweep of the Greyhounds (Game 1: 10-2), Merrimack earned their first Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader sweep since May 6, 2007 which was against Southern New Hampshire University (Game 1: 6-2; Game 2: 2-0).

"It was just a tremendous effort by our guys today," head coach Joe Sarno said following the Saturday sweep.  "The enthusiasm and intensity they brought every inning allowed us to play a couple of complete games."

Sophomore Pat Charette (Carver, MA) capped off a perfect day behind the plate in game two, going 3-for-3 with three singles after going 1-for-1 in game one as the designated hitter.

Senior captain Matt Hogan (Andover, MA) also smacked three hits (3-for-5), including a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth for his first of the season, in the nightcap.  Classmate and fellow captain Brendan Pyburn (Peabody, MA) also tallied a pair of hits and as many RBIs in game two on Saturday.

"[Brendan] Pyburn is our leader on the field and he's done what he's done all along for us today," Sarno said.  "He was able to get a few hits and I think it sparked our other guys to play a good game as well."

Sophomore Paul Manganiello (Levittown, NY) put in a workman's effort on Saturday, going 3-for-7 and driving in a run, but Sarno was most impressed with the impact the outfielder made in the dugout.

Said Sarno, "Paul brings great energy to the team and his fiery attitude is contagious.  It's the little things he does that adds a dimension to our team."

Starting the Conference schedule at 2-0, Merrimack is tied with Southern Connecticut, Stonehill and Bentley for first place in the Northeast-10 standings.  Meanwhile, Assumption is in fifth at 2-2 in Conference play at 10-6 overall.

The Warriors return to action on Wednesday, March 24 at Stonehill College for a 3:30pm first pitch in Easton, Massachusetts.
