GARDEN CITY, NY – Winning a third straight dual match and fifth straight in Conference play, the Merrimack College men's tennis team (6-3, 5-0 NE-10) took down Adelphi University Saturday morning 8-1 in Garden City, New York.

"Our guys played very solid in singles led by Rishi [Rajpal] and Max [Eppley]," said head coach Chris Stevens.  "They had some convincing wins over a good Adelphi team."

Sophomore Max Eppley (Malaga, Spain) won his No. 2 singles match, 6-2, 6-2, before winning at No. 3 doubles, 8-6 with teammate Tim McHugh (Edgartown, MA).

With the win, the Warriors pulled ahead of the Northeast-10 pack, one match ahead of Bentley (4-0)—who Merrimack plays in the final regular season contest of the year (April 17).

Reigning freshman of the week, Petar Golijanin (Novi Sad, Serbia) won his No. 3 singles match without allowing a point to capture his fifth straight dual match victory.

Sophomore Sean Pahler (Rumson, NJ) also won in straight sets (6-0, 6-0) at No. 4 after he and Golijanin fell in No.1 doubles, 8-3.

Sophomore Rishi Rajpal (New Delhi, India) won his third straight singles match at No. 1, 6-4, 6-1, to improve to 3-3 on the season.  Rajpal also won at No. 2 doubles, 8-1 with junior Liam Hoare (West Newbury, MA).

The Warriors return to action on Sunday against the Setters of Pace University (3-3, 3-2 NE-10) at 11:00am in Pleasantville, New York.
