Women's Tennis Drops 7-2 Match to Top-Ranked Adelphi
GARDEN CITY, NY – The Merrimack College women's
tennis team (2-8) dropped a 7-2 match to the Northeast-10
Conference's top-ranked Adelphi University Panthers (10-0,
8-0 NE-10) on Saturday in Garden City, New York.
Seniors Cristina Lucin (Wesley Chapel, FL) and
Caitlin Dunn (Middleton, MA) picked up the two
singles victories for the Warriors on Saturday afternoon.
“Cristina beat a tremendous undefeated player in a
fantastic three-set win,” said head coach Chris Stevens.
After dropping the first set 2-6, Lucin bounced back for a 6-2,
7-5 win in sets two and three to take the No. 1 singles
victory. With her second straight dual match win, Lucin
improved to 3-0 in No. 1 singles Northeast-10 play.
In Dunn's win, she won 8-3 for her third straight singles
victory while improving to 3-0 at No. 2 singles play on the year.
The Warriors return to action on Sunday against the Setters of
Pace University (0-5, 0-5 NE-10) at 11:00am in Pleasantville, New
York.
