Men's Tennis Tops Stonehill, Northeast-10 Conference
EASTON, MA - In a battle for supremacy in the Northeast-10
Conference, the Merrimack College men's tennis team defeated the
Stonehill College Skyhawks Wednesday afternoon and evening in
Easton, Massachusetts.
While Merrimack and Stonehill split the singles matches 3-3,
sophomore Rishi Rajpal (New Delhi, India) and
junior Liam Hoare (West Newbury, MA) teamed
together for a No. 2 doubles win. Sophomores Tim
McHugh (Edgartown, MA) and Max Eppley (Malaga,
Spain) also improved to 6-0 on the year in Conference
play at doubles with a No. 3 win, 8-3.
Freshman Petar Golijanin (Novi Sad,
Serbia) continued his hot hitting with a seventh
straight singles win in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.
"It was an awesome win with all the starters contributing," said
head coach Chris Stevens. "It was a hard fought battle against a
great Stonehill team. I am proud of our heart today."
With the win, Merrimack improves to 8-3 overall and 7-0 in
Northeast-10 play, one match ahead of Bentley University. The
Warriors have now won five straight Conference contests through
Wednesday.
The Skyhawks fell to 6-5 overall and 3-1 in Conference play with
the loss.
Merrimack plays Saint Michael's College on April 7 at the
University of New Hampshire at 4:00pm in Durham, New Hampshire.
