SYRACUSE, NY – The Merrimack men's lacrosse team suffered its first conference loss of the season, falling to #2 Le Moyne College 14-4 Saturday afternoon.

The Dolphins jumped all over the Warriors early, taking a 5-0 second-quarter lead and a 6-1 advantage at halftime, with Merrimack's lone first-half goal coming from Mark Webber (Mansfield, MA).

Le Moyne put the game out of reach in the third quarter, leading by as much as 11 goals with a 12-1 lead in the fourth.

"We came out with too many turnovers and didn't cash in early," said head coach Mike Morgan. "They went on a run and we had to play catch-up. Bentley will be a big challenge on Tuesday, and we need to regroup."

Webber, Corey Lunney (Little Silver, NJ) and Michael Balbuena (Falmouth, MA) added fourth quarter tallies for Merrimack, who was held in single digits in goals for just the second time this season.

Cory Spinale (Wakefield, MA) made nine saves in the loss. Nick Maggio (Winchester, MA) won 11 of 21 faceoffs, while Brad McAdam (Neshanic Station, NJ) had a team-high five ground balls.

For Le Moyne (9-0, 6-0 NE-10), eight different players netted goals, with Matt Chadderdon and Matt Rabbitt tallying three each. The Dolphins outshot Merrimack 38-29, including 28-16 in the second half.

Since the beginning of the 2009 season, Merrimack has suffered just five losses, four to Le Moyne.

Merrimack (7-2, 5-1 NE-10) visits #5 Bentley on Tuesday at 7 p.m. for a big conference showdown with the Falcons, who remain unbeaten in Northeast-10 Conference action.
