#10 Women's Lacrosse Cruises to 20-5 Win over Assumption
				
					 
							
				 
				
				
				
			
									
			 NORTH ANDOVER, MA – The Merrimack women's lacrosse
team, ranked tenth in this week's IWLCA National Poll, made
it four straight wins, defeating Assumption College 20-5 Saturday
afternoon at a windy Warrior Field.
In the victory, senior Mia Basile
(Longmeadow, MA) moved into second-place on all-time
Merrimack's goal-scoring list with two goals in the victory.
She now has 154 goals all-time and 24 this season, tops on the
team.
The Greyhounds drew first blood, but Merrimack rattled off 13
unanswered goals from eight different players to take a 13-1 lead
at halftime. Christina
McCarron (Westwood, MA) led the way with three
first-half tallies, as Merrimack forced 13 turnovers.
"I thought our girls played an incredible team effort," said
head coach Corinne Baker. "Everyone contributed and we cleaned up
some of the things we worked on at practice. This will help us as
move on to our next game at Saint Michael's."
Three Warriors, McCarron, Kelly
Pasquantonio (Plainville, MA), and Maddie Basile
(Longmeadow, MA) led the way with three goals each in the
win, while Mia
Basile posted four assists and six points. McCarron, Erica McMahon
(Shrewsbury, MA) and Mary
Pasquantonio (Plainville, MA) each caused three
turnovers as Merrimack caused 18 turnovers in all.
Jamie-Lee
Whiteway (Billerica, MA) improved to 6-2 on the season
with eight saves in the victory.
Merrimack (6-2, 5-2 NE-10) visits Saint Michael's on
Wednesday at 4 p.m. for a conference showdown with the Purple
Knights.
