Women's Tennis Takes Down New Haven, 7-2
NORTH ANDOVER, MA- Improving to .500 (4-4) in Conference play,
the Merrimack College women's tennis team overtook the
University of New Haven, 7-2, Saturday afternoon at North Andover
High School.
The Warriors—who moved into eighth place in the
Northeast-10—also improved to 4-9 on the season with five
Conference matches remaining.
“The key to today's victory was our doubles play,”
said head coach Chris Stevens. “It set
the tone for a good win over a quality New Haven team.”
Seniors Caitlin
Dunn (Middleton, MA) and Cristina
Lucin (Wesley Chapel, FL) each
recorded singles wins at No. 2 and No. 1, respectively, before
teaming for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles. As a duo, the
seniors improved to 4-2 in the Northeast-10 at No. 1 doubles.
The Warriors return to the court on Sunday when they travel to
Rindge, New Hampshire to take on Franklin Pierce University
following the men's team at 1:00pm.
