Lucin Improves to 9-0 in NE-10 but Women's Tennis Falls to Stonehill, 7-2
DURHAM, NH – Although seniors Cristina Lucin
(Wesley Chapel, FL) and Caitlin Dunn
(Littleton, MA) improved to 9-0 and 7-2 in Northeast-10
Conference singles play Tuesday, the Merrimack College
women's tennis team fell to Stonehill College, 7-2 at the
University of New Hampshire.
Stonehill entered Tuesday's contest as the fifth-ranked
team in the NCAA East Region.
With the loss, Merrimack resides in eighth place in the
Northeast-10, holding onto the final spot in postseason play for
the time being. The Warriors are 5-5 with the East
Region's top-ranked Southern New Hampshire, Bentley
University and Assumption still to play in the regular season this
weekend.
On Tuesday, Lucin improved to 8-0 in the No. 1 singles position
this season with a straight set victory. Dunn jumped to 7-1
at the No. 2 spot on the year with a straight set win, but needed a
tie-breaker to settle the second set.
The Warriors will conclude the regular season with three
straight matches on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, starting with
Southern New Hampshire on Friday at the University of New Hampshire
at 3:30pm.
